Health Tested Rough Collies & Mini Dachshunds | Elko, NVLimited

Willow Creek Acres health tests every parent dog — Embark for our Mini Dachshunds, Gensol for our Rough Collies. Elko, Nevada.

Health Testing at Willow Creek Acres

The health of our dogs and puppies is a top priority at Willow Creek Acres. Our dogs are raised in our home rather than in a kennel, they are part of our everyday lives, and the care they receive reflects that. Health testing our parent dogs is one of the most important decisions we make before any litter is planned.

Our Mini Dachshunds

Our Mini Dachshund breeding dogs are Embark health tested. Genetic testing helps us understand what our dogs carry and make informed decisions about which pairings to plan.

Health-testing documentation is available to prospective puppy families on request.

Our Rough Collies

Our Rough Collie breeding dogs are Gensol health tested. Gensol testing is widely used in the Collie community for the genetic conditions that matter most in this breed.

Health-testing documentation is available to prospective puppy families on request.

Our Veterinary Care

Willow Creek Acres is a family program, and that extends to our veterinary care. Melanie’s oldest daughter, Dr. Brandi Waheed, serves as our program’s veterinarian and personally handles our puppies’ well checks.

That means every puppy leaving here has been examined by a veterinarian who knows the program, knows the parents, and has a personal stake in how each puppy starts life.

What Every Puppy Receives

• A veterinary well check performed by Dr. Waheed

• Age-appropriate vaccinations

• Deworming appropriate for their age

Willow Creek Acres puppies are not microchipped before going home. We mention this plainly so families can arrange it with their own veterinarian if they’d like it done.

What We Ask of You

We encourage every family to establish care with their own veterinarian soon after their puppy comes home. A relationship with a vet you trust is one of the best things you can do for your dog’s long life.

An Honest Word About Health

Genetic health testing helps us identify known risks and breed more responsibly. It cannot promise that any dog will never face a health issue in its lifetime — no test can. What we can tell you is that we test, we keep the records, and we’re glad to share them with you.
