Bringing home a new puppy is exciting, and we want every Willow Creek Acres family to feel prepared for that transition.
Our puppies are raised in our home and are not kenneled. From birth until go-home day, they receive individual attention, love, and care as part of our everyday family life.
Whether you are bringing home one of our Long-Haired Mini Dachshunds or Rough Collies, our goal is to give your puppy a strong start before passing the responsibility for their continued care on to you.
Every Willow Creek Acres puppy receives a veterinary well check before leaving for their new home.
We are fortunate to have Melanie's oldest daughter, Dr. Brandi Waheed, serve as our program veterinarian. Dr. Waheed personally handles our puppies' well checks.
Before going home, puppies are also up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming.
Willow Creek Acres puppies are not microchipped before going home.
Families who would like their puppy microchipped can discuss this with their own veterinarian after bringing their puppy home.
Our puppies are ready to join their new families at approximately 8 weeks of age.
This is an exciting transition for both your family and your puppy. We encourage families to prepare their homes ahead of time so their puppy has a safe, comfortable place to begin settling into their new environment.
We don't want you and your puppy heading home empty-handed! Each Willow Creek Acres puppy goes home with a package to help make those first days together a little easier.
Your puppy's go-home package includes:
• Blanket
• Food
• Toys
• Leash
• Collar
Our puppies are currently fed Purina Pro Plan.
Your go-home package includes food so you have some of the food your puppy is accustomed to eating as you begin the transition into your home.
If you decide to change your puppy's food later, we recommend discussing your puppy's nutritional needs with your veterinarian and making dietary changes gradually.
Your puppy's care doesn't end when they leave Willow Creek Acres.
After bringing your puppy home, establish care with your veterinarian and work with them to determine the appropriate ongoing schedule for vaccinations, deworming, preventative care, and routine wellness visits.
Because puppies leave Willow Creek Acres up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming, your veterinarian can help you determine what comes next based on your puppy's age and records.
We put a great deal of care into our puppies during their first weeks with us, and go-home day marks the beginning of your responsibility for their continued health, training, nutrition, safety, and well-being.
We hope the love and care your puppy receives at Willow Creek Acres provides a wonderful beginning for a lifetime with your family.
